Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use thecompoundparent.co.uk, why I collect it, and what your rights are.
I've tried to write it in the same plain English as everything else on this site. If anything is unclear, email me and I'll explain it properly.
Who I am
The Compound Parent is operated by GOCRESCO LTD, trading as The Compound Parent, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15750073.
I am the data controller for the information described in this policy.

What I collect, and when
When you download a projection card
To download your projection card, you enter your email address. At the same time, the following information from the calculator is recorded alongside it:
- Your email address
- Your child's age, as entered into the calculator
- The contribution amount you entered, and whether it was monthly or annual
- The number of years you chose to contribute for
- The projected total shown by the calculator
- Your relationship to the child — parent, grandparent, or other
- Whether money currently set aside for them is in cash or invested
- That the signup came from the calculator page
None of this is verified or checked. It's whatever you typed into the sliders and tapped on the form. I use it for two things: so the emails I send you are relevant — a parent of a newborn and a grandparent of a fourteen-year-old need different things — and, in anonymous aggregate form, to understand how families across the UK are actually saving for their children. That second use is explained below.
I do not collect your name, your child's name, your address, or any financial account information. The calculator does not connect to any bank or investment provider.
Automatically, when you visit
Like most websites, my hosting provider records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
The site stores a small flag in your browser's local storage to remember that you've already downloaded a card, so you aren't asked for your email twice. This is not a tracking cookie and is not shared with anyone.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. This means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
I also use Microsoft Clarity to see anonymised recordings of how visitors use the calculator — things like where you scroll, where you hesitate, and where you give up. It's how I find and fix the parts of the site that don't work as well as they should. Clarity automatically masks anything that looks like a sensitive input, and I only ever look at these recordings to improve the page — never to identify who you are.
Why I'm allowed to use it
Under UK GDPR I need a lawful basis for using your information. Mine are:
Consent. When you enter your email address to download a projection card, the page states clearly that you'll also receive my weekly newsletter. Submitting the form is your consent to that. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing — there's a link in every email, and it works immediately.
Legitimate interests. For keeping the website running, secure, and working properly, and, via Microsoft Clarity, for understanding and improving how the site works.
Published research
I publish an annual report on how UK families save and invest for their children. It's built from the answers people give in the calculator.
This report only ever contains aggregate statistics — for example, “62% of grandparents who used the calculator said the money was sitting in cash.” It never contains your email address, and it never contains anything that could identify you or your family. There is no combination of the information I hold that could single you out in a published figure.
My lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: understanding the gap between saving and investing is the entire reason this site exists, and doing it with anonymous aggregate figures has no meaningful impact on your privacy. If you'd rather your answers weren't included even in that form, email me and I'll exclude them.
Who else sees it
I use a small number of service providers. They process your information on my instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| beehiiv | Stores my email list and sends the newsletter | United States |
| Lovable | Hosts the website | See their privacy policy |
| Google Fonts | Serves the fonts used on the site | United States |
| Microsoft Clarity | Records anonymised sessions of how visitors use the calculator | See their privacy policy |
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where information is transferred internationally, it is protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
I do not sell your information. I do not share it with advertisers. I do not pass it to any investment platform, financial adviser, or product provider.
How long I keep it
I keep your email address and the calculator information alongside it for as long as you remain subscribed.
If you unsubscribe, I retain a record of your email address in a suppression list so that I don't accidentally email you again. This is a legal requirement, not a way of keeping you on the list.
If you ask me to delete your information entirely, I will do so within one month.
Aggregate statistics that have already been published, or prepared for publication, contain no personal information and are not deleted — there's nothing left in them to identify.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the information I hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information
- Object to how I'm using it, or restrict that use
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Portability — receive your information in a transferable format
To do any of these, email admin@thecompoundparent.co.uk. I'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113. I'd rather you came to me first so I can put it right.
Children
This site is aimed at parents, not children. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Although the calculator asks for a child's age, this is entered by the parent and is not linked to any identifiable child — no name, no date of birth, nothing that could identify them.
A note on what this site is
The Compound Parent provides financial education. It is not regulated financial advice, and I am not a financial adviser. Nothing on this site is a personal recommendation. The calculator produces illustrations based on figures you enter — not forecasts, and not guarantees.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy I'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant — for example, if I start using your information in a genuinely new way — I'll tell subscribers by email.
